AMARILLO - Amarillo Independent School District has broken ground on the Travis Sixth Grade Campus, 2801 N.E. 24th Ave., north of Travis Middle School.

The school, projected to cost about $15 million in construction and land purchases, is funded by Amarillo ISD’s $99.45 million bond issue.

Last month, Amarillo ISD began construction on the 69,000-sf Bowie Sixth Grade Campus at 2905 Tee Anchor Blvd. Bowie will cost $13 million, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Both schools are expected to be completed by the 2015-16 school year. The new campuses will join the Johnny Allen Sixth Grade Campus as the only schools in the district dedicated to a single grade.
