DALLAS-FORT WORTH – Home sales rose 10 percent in North Texas during second quarter 2014 when compared to 2Q 2013.

According to data from Residential Strategies Inc., there have been 23,734 home starts in the area during the last 12 months — the highest level since 2008.

During 2Q 2014, builders started 5,966 Dallas-Fort Worth homes. That is a 2 percent increase compared to 2Q 2013.

The median price of new houses sold throughout 2Q 2014 was $271,000.
