NORTH TEXAS - North Texas home sales in June were up 7 percent — the largest year-over-year gain in 2014.

According to data from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University and the North Texas Real Estate Information Systems, real estate agents sold 9,481 houses last month.

More preowned homes were sold during this period than any other month in more than a decade. Even with such strong June activity, year-to-date preowned home sales in North Texas were still down 1 percent from the first six months 2013.

Median sales prices stood at a record $199,900 — a 10 percent spike from June 2013.

At the end of the month, 22,333 single-family homes were listed for sale with real estate agents. This was a 6 percent decrease from mid-2013.

It took on average 44 days to sell the North Texas houses in June 2014.
