SAN ANGELO - After it completes a 45,000-sf expansion adjacent to the West Texas Training Center, Howard College San Angelo will own its own buildings for the first time.

Construction is worth an estimated total of $14 million.

Howard College, a two-year community college, will hold classes in its new academic building starting this fall, and its new student services building should be operational by October.

“It’s just amazing what we will have” considering that, in 1973, Howard College started off at Goodfellow Air Force Base with just several classes and about 100 students, said Jamie Rainey, executive dean. The college now offers classes to about 3,000 students each academic year.
