Killeen area unemployment up from May, down from 2013
KILLEEN-TEMPLE-FORT HOOD – The Texas Workforce Commission has released June 2014 figures, showing that cities throughout the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood area all saw increases in unemployment.
Temple’s unemployment rate increased from 4.5 percent in May 2014 to 5 percent in June.
Killeen climbed to 6.7 percent from May’s 6.6 percent.
Copperas Cove increased from 6.0 percent in May to 6.5 percent in June. However, all three cities’ unemployment rates are below June 2013 rates.
Much of the data from the cities was mirrored at the county level. Bell, Coryell and Milam counties all saw increases in monthly jobless claims while also seeing reductions in the year-to-year unemployment rate.
