WICHITA FALLS - Numbers released by the Wichita Falls Association of Realtors (WFAR) show 123 existing homes sold in June, a drop from 140 in May. In 2013, 144 existing homes sold in May, and June’s numbers dropped to 121.

While the number of homes sold decreased, sales volume increased from May to June by a little more than $400,000 with the average sales price coming in at $148,376.

Penny Riordan, president of the WFAR and a realtor with Strategic Realtors in Henrietta, said she sold more higher end homes than lower end homes in June.

Existing home sales could rebound in the second half of the year, statistics show. Sales increased each of the last three years from July through December. August proved to be the best month during those months of the last three years, averaging 134 sales, followed by July with an average of 128.

The top price class for existing homes sold in June 2014 was the $120,000-$139,999 range with 15 closings. That was followed by 14 in the $140,000-$159,999 range, 11 in the $200,000-$249,999 range, and 10 in both the $100,000-$119,999 and $180,000-$199,999 ranges.
