RICHARDSON - Developers KDC and JLB Partners have broken ground on 532 apartments located in the 186-acre CityLine development on Plano Rd. The first units will be ready summer 2015 and are part of a mixed-use development next door to a DART commuter rail station.

A four-story complex will have 233 apartments on top of 20,000 sf of retail space, and further south at CityLine Dr., a five-story rental project will contain another 299 units.

JLB Partners’ new apartments will range in size from 573 to 1,550 sf. Another 300 rental units are planned in a second phase of development.

The $1.5 billion CityLine project is the largest real estate development in North Texas and will house more than 8,000 State Farm workers plus almost 1,700 Raytheon employees in two large office campuses. A 250-room Aloft Hotel and shopping center anchored by Whole Foods Market grocery are also part of the project, which has been under construction for more than a year.

The entire development is planned to ultimately contain 6 million sf of office space, two hotels, 3,925 apartments, 300,000 sf of retail space, and three parks.
