DENTON COUNTY – Denton County has opened a $15.7 million addition to its Juvenile Detention Center at 210 S. Woodrow Lane.

The expansion consisted of two buildings totaling about 55,000 sf. The juvenile post-adjudication building is 25,000 sf, while the building for the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program is about 29,000 sf.

The addition added 32 beds, eight classrooms, a cafeteria with an auditorium, an administration area and a visitation area.

The 32 beds are for those who have been ordered to be in that program and that facility by the juvenile court.

The addition is part of the master plan for the entire campus, which includes the county courthouse, jail and juvenile center.
