WELLS, CHEROKEE COUNTY – Wells ISD has completed the construction of a $4.6 million gymnasium at 160 Rusk Ave.

The project created 45,000 sf “at a total cost of just under $100 per sf,” according to WISD Superintendent Dale Morton.

The 603-seat gym is part of a multiphase project that also called for additional space at the high school campus featuring six new academic classrooms plus two for future growth; a new agricultural sciences building; a new gym and renovation of the old agricultural sciences building into art classrooms.

Classified as a 1A school district, Wells has an enrollment of approximately 300 student in a pre-K through 12th grade program.
