FRISCO – Construction has begun on a 56,000-sf indoor soccer facility, dubbed The PIT, outside of Toyota Park. The $6 million project will sit on a seven-acre tract at 7255 Meadow Hill Dr.

Plans for the soccer complex include five indoor soccer fields, event rooms and a concession area.

Performance Indoor Training (PIT) will cater to families, sports leagues, professional and semi-professional teams, youth groups, community events

The two Frisco soccer dads behind the project — Brian Duncan and James Meese — hope the new project might host regional games and tournaments for soccer, lacrosse and football. The project has no official affiliation with MLS soccer team FC Dallas.

The facility will have the first Soccer RTC training simulator in the United States. The robotic technology, which was first developed in Europe, made international headlines recently when professional players said it boosted their game.

RTC, developed by GTex Inc. in Farmer’s Branch, is a ball-feeding arena that shoots nonstop from four directions to a single receiving athlete who plays an entire match of balls in minutes.

The City of Frisco will contribute $200,000 in infrastructure costs to the project through an economic incentive deal with Indoor Plex of Frisco LLC, who is working with Duncan and Meese to develop The PIT.

The PIT is scheduled for completion on or before April 30, 2015.
