SAN ANTONIO - San Antonians who want to get away to the Big Easy for beignets from Café du Monde and a hurricane from Pat O’Brien’s will now be able to take advantage of a new nonstop flight on Southwest Airlines.

And certainly the same is true for New Orleanians who want to travel to the Alamo City for Tex-Mex and tequila.

Southwest Airlines will expand nonstop service from San Antonio to New Orleans on November 25, 26, 30 and December 1, 2014.

The service will be expanded weekly, beginning March 6, 2015, then daily on April 7, 2015.

“We are pleased with Southwest’s decision to expand the limited service to New Orleans permanently,” said San Antonio Mayor Ivy R. Taylor. “Southwest Airlines has been a great partner for our city and their continued growth shows great confidence in the San Antonio market.”

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines flies from San Antonio International Airport to 16 destinations: Atlanta, Nashville, Baltimore, Dallas Love Field, Denver, El Paso, Houston Hobby, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando, Chicago Midway, Phoenix, San Diego, St. Louis and Tampa.
