BROWNSVILLE - Bella Vista Apartments, located on a 28 acres at 4305 E. Ruben Torres Blvd., has opened its clubhouse and first three residential buildings, totaling 128 units. Five more residential buildings are slated for completion in the next two months.

The units rent from $750 to $1,085 per month and range in size from 575 sf to 1,240 sf. One bedroom/one bath, two bedroom/two bath and three bedroom/two bath options are available.

Phase two is still in the design stage and will add another 150 to 170 units.

Bella Vista is the first new Class A, market-rate apartment complex to hit the Brownsville market since the early 2000s, according to developer Ryan Harden.

The Bella Vista project was a response to high demand in Brownsville for Class A, market-rate multifamily housing — largely the result of foreclosures and the difficulty of securing mortgage lending following the housing crisis.

High traffic counts along East Ruben Torres Blvd. will only grow, especially after the new Walmart under construction just to the west opens its doors. “We’ve got a Walmart on each end of FM 802 from us,” said Harden. “There’s also one right at (SH) 48.”
