DALLAS - The $800 million University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center hospital under construction at 5323 Harry Hines Blvd. will open to patients on November 15. The complex is officially named the William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital.

Groups of 150 to 180 employees and physicians per day are starting to train on how to use the building.

The hospital will have about 30,000 patient encounters per year, with about 500 workers employed at the facility.

The hospital’s 24 operating rooms are “the biggest in the state,” said John Warner, CEO of UT Southwestern University Hospitals. That allows for teams of surgeons and nurses operating on the patient and for other teams to observe, since UT Southwestern is an academic medical center.

The hospital replaces the outdated St. Paul University Hospital.

Some of the hospital’s other vital stats:

•  1.3 million sf
•  460 single-patient rooms
•  40 emergency treatment rooms
•  24 surgical suites
•  12 procedure rooms
•  72 adult intensive-care rooms
•  16 labor and delivery rooms
•  30 neonatal ICU rooms
•  6 endoscopy suites
•  2 nuclear medicine rooms
