EL PASO - Hunt Companies has started renting 300 homes to the public in the North Hills Housing community in Northeast El Paso that previously served as Army family housing.

The community, located at Martin Luther King and Marcus Uribe, has homes with three or four bedrooms and one-car garages that rent for between $1,149 and $1,249 per month. Hunt will maintain the homes much like is done with an apartment complex.

Hunt's contract with the Army Corps of Engineers to operate the community for the Army expired in July 2014, and homes will be turned over to Hunt for leasing to the public over the next several months, according to Brenda Longoria, North Hills Housing director. About five homes are now available, and more will be available in coming weeks.
