AMARILLO - Exports from the Amarillo MSA totaled a record $581 million in 2013, an increase of 52 percent or $198 million from 2012, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration.

Key merchandise export categories included:

  • processed foods;
  • crops;
  • machinery;
  • manufactured products; and
  • leather products.


Trading partners in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation and Asia were the leading destinations for Amarillo exports.

"Texas companies, large and small, continue to tap the growing spending power of the 95 percent of world consumers who live outside of the United States," said Harry Henson, Senior International Trade Specialist of the U.S. Commercial Service in North Texas.
