LUBBOCK - Betenbough Homes has broken ground on its 27,000-sf office expansion just east of its current location on 82nd St., east of Milwaukee Ave. The estimated cost of construction will be $5 million, according to state filings.

The building is expected to be completed in 2016.

The first level will be below ground and will include a courtyard between the two buildings. It will have an outside amphitheater and room inside to accommodate about 350 people.

The ground floor will be used as a new regional office, where about 25 employees will work with customers in the studio to design and discuss future homes. It will also include a coffee shop with outdoor seating.

The top floor will be mostly office space, housing the leadership team with other spaces available for lease.

The faith-based, employee-owned company that has built more than 5,000 homes in communities across West Texas, and in 2013 it sold 730 homes, totaling about $130 million.
