AMARILLO – Park Central Memory Care, a $5.6 million assisted-living center for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients, has broken ground at Southwest 15th Ave. and S. Van Buren St.

Baptist Community Services (BCS) will own and operate Park Central Memory Care, which will house approximately 50 residents. BCS will hire about 50 new employees for its operation.

The facility is scheduled to open in summer 2015, according to Robert Smith, BCS vice president of health care operations.

The facility will be comprised of four interconnected neighborhoods that contain their own resident rooms, serving kitchens, dining areas and living rooms. A salon, spa and therapeutic quiet rooms will also be onsite amenities.

Park Central Memory Care will be enclosed in walls for security, but will also contain the latest technology for monitoring patients inside the building.

BCS and its affiliates also own and operate Park Central Senior Living Community, The Arbors Skills and Rehabilitative Care facility and Amarillo Town Club.
