South El Paso ‘fashionable’ walk to $4.75M Campbell units
EL PASO – The $4.75 million, 87-unit Campbell Apartments are underway at Campbell and Third St. The five-story complex, which will include 3,654 sf of retail space, is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
Monthly rent will start at about $580 for one-bedroom apartments and will be more for the complex’s two- and three-bedroom units.
The complex, just south of just south of Paisano Dr., is an extension of Downtown with the county and federal courthouses only a few blocks away. The shops of Stanton and South El Paso stores are also are nearby.
The area south of Paisano Dr. has lower property values than the north side where the heart of Downtown lies, but this area also needs developed, according to Felipe Chacon, El Paso president for InterNational Bank.
"We are trying to change the footprint of South El Paso. We want to integrate fashionable living into South El Paso," said owner Ed Soto.
The Campbell Apartments will bring new residents to the Downtown area, and that’s needed to transform Downtown, according to Joe Gudenrath, executive director of the Downtown Management District.
We need to grow the population Downtown with offices and residences," said Gudenrath. "As the population grows," then new businesses come in to support that population.
