Longview landmark Reo Palm Isle gets new life
LONGVIEW – The 25,000-sf building made famous under the name “Reo Palm Isle” will get a new name as part of a renovation to turn the landmark into a “Las Vegas-style” club.
Mike Kittner, a Longview businessman, will turn the facility at 4716 W. Loop 281 into Club V.
Kittner is investing $500,000 into the building’s transformation, which includes a revamped exterior, restored dance floor, new bars and renovated bathrooms.
The dance hall first opened in 1935 and has hosted famous musicians such as Elvis Presley, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson.
Reo Palm Isle was rated the best dance hall in Texas Monthly magazine in 1976 and one of the state’s top ten clubs in Texas Highways.
