​​​McKinney – This suburb north of Dallas led the nation in rent relief as of June. Latest data for the city of 200,000 show the monthly average rent at about $681, down more than 50 percent year over year (YoY).

In contrast, Austin had the seventh highest average monthly rent at $3,257. Rents there have more than doubled since June 2021, growing by 108 percent YoY.

According to Rent.com, Houston made the list of top ten largest rent decreases. The Bayou City had a 14.7 percent drop YoY.

New York City set a new national record for one-bedroom average monthly rents in June at $5,812, up 41 percent.​
