Plano a top city to raise a family

​WASHINGTON – ​Plano has ranked fourth on WalletHub’s list of the best places to raise a family in 2022. 

The Collin County city was second in socio-economics and third in affordability. It was eighth in health and safety, 37th in education and childcare, and 97th in family fun. 

Plano tied for first with four other cities for highest median family salary when adjusted for cost of living. 

Houston was fourth in most playgrounds per capita. Laredo had the second highest percentage of families with young kids. 

The rest of WalletHub’s top five cities are:​

• No. 1 Fremont, Calif.;

• No. 2 Overland Park, Kan.;

• No. 3 Irvine, Calif.; and 

• No. 5 Columbia, Md. 

To determine the rankings, WalletHub compared 182 U.S. cities on 46 key metrics.
