​​​COPPERAS COVE – The city is planning a 14,000-sf, $5 million animal shelter near Ogletree Pass and Five Hills Rd. 

The current shelter at ​1601 N. First St. has space for 46 dogs and 12 cats. The new facility will increase capacity to 66 dogs and 40 cats.

It will also have an air conditioning system that supplies new air to each cage every ten minutes. ​
