HOUSTON – Chevron has signed a lease at the former Sears store at 4201 Main St., becoming the building’s first tenant.
Built in 1939, the 300,000-sf building is becoming the Ion, a collaborative space designed to nurture start-up and tech businesses. It will be part of Rice University’s 16-acre development.
The LEED-certified Midtown facility will open in spring 2021.
Hines is managing the redevelopment. Gensler and James Carpenter designed the building, and Savills is handling leasing.
