MIDLAND – Unemployment fell significantly in June as the local economy started picking back up.
The metro’s unemployment rate fell 3 percent month over month to 9.6 percent. Last June, unemployment was 2.1 percent.
Odessa reported an unemployment rate of 13 percent, the highest among Texas metros. Amarillo reported the lowest at 6 percent.
Statewide, unemployment sits at 8.6 percent.
