Denton No. 2 boomtown in America
NEW YORK – Three Texas cities have landed on SmartAsset’s list of the top ten boomtowns in America.
No. 2 Denton has seen a population increase of around 8 percent from 2014 to 2018. At the same time, the city’s household income grew by more than 36 percent. As of July 2019, the unemployment rate was 3.1 percent.
Denton is home to two of the best school districts in which to buy an affordable home. It ranks 38th out of 500 for its housing growth rate, growing 13 percent from 2014 to 2018.
The population of No. 6 New Braunfels grew by more than 30 percent from 2014 to 2018, and the number of housing units increased by more than 41 percent.
Round Rock rounds out the top ten list. Its population rose over 14.5 percent from 2014 through 2018, ranking 22nd overall and third on the top ten list.
Other Texas cities in the top 50 of 500 boomtowns are:
No. 12 Austin;
No. 13 Frisco;
No. 14 McKinney;
No. 16 College Station;
No. 24 Flower Mound; and
No. 37 Allen.
Longmont, Colo., took the top spot, and Colorado had three cities in the top ten. South Carolina also had three cities on the list while Florida had one.
