TISD’s $34M Career & Technology Education Center nearly done
TYLER – Work on Tyler ISD’s $34 million Career & Technology Education Center is nearing completion.
Students from Robert E. Lee High School, John Tyler High School and Tyler Junior College will share the 147,000-sf center.
Besides classrooms, the building houses ten to 12 facilities that will function almost as businesses for various career fields.
Construction is scheduled to be finished in March; equipment and furnishings will be moved into the facility in April.
The center will serve a twofold purpose, said Misti Rasure, Tyler ISD’s director of career and technical education.
It will prepare students for college, technical school or for going into the workforce straight out of high school, she said. Secondly, the center will help draw businesses in for economic development in Tyler and Smith County by addressing the need for skilled workers.
