LAREDO - The 20,000-sf South Laredo Library has opened its doors at 1920 Palo Blanco St. The estimated cost of construction was $4 million, according to state filings.
The two-story South Laredo library will be known as the Sophie Christen McKendrick, Francisco Ochoa and Fernando A. Salinas Branch Library. Ten employees will staff the library.
The Laredo City Council put aside more than $3 million and received a little over $1 million in community development grants in order to fund construction.
