ARP, SMITH COUNTY - A Dallas couple has purchased 75 acres just outside of Arp and is developing the property into an event center called High Hill Farm.

Jason and Sharon Romano envision that soon, guests will be listening to music, sitting by the pool and enjoying the day. They hope to attract corporate, family and church retreats, weddings and other events.

They hope to complete it by July and are starting to book events now.

The Romanos have cleared the land, planted new trees and replaced the fence. Seven bungalows are under construction. Each bungalow is 300 to 500 sf, featuring high-end finishes and a small private courtyard.

There will be a wedding gazebo on the nearly 3,000-sf lawn, which can be tented to double the entertainment capacity. A 2,000-sf barn will be another opportunity to hold events.

The working farm will include an organic garden, planted with seasonal herbs and vegetables; a chicken house; and apple, pear and peach trees. It also has a vineyard, from which grapes will be harvested into wine.

Back in the woods there is a three-quarter mile obstacle course that can be used for team building for corporate retreats, CrossFit groups or bridal party competitions.
