HARLINGEN - In October 2014, the city issued 54 building permits for projects that carried a combined estimated value of $3.14 million. Permits include the following categories:

•  new commercial construction,
•  commercial additions and alterations,
•  new homes,
•  alterations to homes and
•  signage.

The city issued permits for the construction of 18 new houses during October 2014, with estimated values ranging from $40,000 to $225,000.

The Kirkland’s retail project, located at 2825 W. Expy. 83, led commercial building activity with a value of $210,000.

A permit also was issued for the construction of a 9,000-sf facility at a storage business on South Expy. 83. The storage facility addition has an estimated valuation of $193,500.
