MIDLAND – Midland County commissioners have approved $700,000 for a new downtown library front entrance following an $8 million building renovation completed earlier this summer.
The redesigned Library at the Plaza entrance will feature an expanded and air-conditioned walkway, skylights, and large signage, according to architect Parkhill, Smith & Cooper.
Plans for the front include artistic elements such as a green turf wall and large-scale, three-dimensional models of vintage books.
A panel of art enthusiasts was appointed in May to oversee murals planned for the exterior walls. The murals have now taken a backseat to the entrance redesign, but both projects are expected to be complete by the end of November.
