Victoria’s Loop 463 overpass project on verge of completion
VICTORIA – After two years of construction work, the project to build three overpasses on a three-mile stretch of Loop 463 is expected to be completed before the start of the new school year.
With 1,800 students expected to register at Victoria East High School for the 2015–2016 school year, starting Aug. 24, the $16.9 million project is designed to increase safety for parents, students and staff members as well as other motorists on the highway.
The overpass at Mockingbird Lane near Victoria East was completed last year, along with an overpass over Salem Rd.
The final overpass at Airline Rd. is expected to open within the next month, said Andrew Carlson, a Texas Department of Transportation spokesman.
Also adding to the safety of motorists traveling on Loop 463 will be the addition of an all-way stop at the Airline Rd. intersection with the Hwy. frontage Rd., Carlson said.
