Overall home sales by real estate agents in North Texas were down 9 percent from December 2017 levels, according to the latest data from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University. However, most North Texas counties saw even steeper declines. Tarrant County had the smallest drop in sales from a year earlier—down only 8.3 percent—and the most total sales last month. The county also had the biggest year-over-year gain in median home prices. North Texas ended 2018 with a 1 percent decline in single-family home sales, with 104,572 houses changing hands. That number marks the second-best year on record, behind only 2017's record of over 106,000 home purchases.
