​​​College Station/Bryan signCOLLEGE STATION-BRYAN – In Sept. 2018, College Station-Bryan's unemployment rate tied its lowest rate of the century at 2.9 percent, according to the Texas A&M University's Private Enterprise Research Center.​​​

Employment reached 120,400, an increase of 1,500 jobs from August.

The top industry employer in the area was the government, taking 37 percent of total employment with 45,100 employees. Of these, 33,300 are state government employees, primarily those who work at Texas A&M, which makes up 28 percent of the total.

Other major industries are trade, transportation, and utilities, totaling 43,600 jobs or 36 percent of total employment.​
