So Canada is DFW’s top trading partner, eh?
DALLAS – North Texas did almost four times as much trade with Canada as it did with Mexico last year, according to statistics from the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce.
That is despite the fact that Texas shares a 1,241-mile border with Mexico and that Mexico is Texas’ largest trading partner.
Trade between DFW companies and their Canadian trade partners was valued at $3.97 billion in 2017, compared with $1.06 billion in trade with Mexico.
Those numbers count only commodity trade as published by the Census Bureau, not services such as legal and consulting.
DFW’s top exports to Canada include electric machinery, sound equipment, TV equipment and parts, pearls, precious stones and metals, coins, aircraft and spacecraft, and parts thereof.
The region’s top imports from Canada include mineral fuels and oils, optical and photo equipment, medical and surgical instruments, nuclear reactors, and boilers.
