DALLAS-FORT WORTH – Sales of preowned single-family homes dropped 1 percent year-over-year in August 2018 across North Texas, according to the latest numbers from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University.

Those numbers include data on more than two dozen counties stretching from the Red River to Waco.

Around the Metroplex, August’s dip in home purchase activity was much larger.

In the Dallas area, sales fell nearly 4 percent from a year earlier, while the Fort Worth area saw a 1 percent rise.

Sales were down almost 31 percent in Far North Dallas, and fell by 24 percent in Allen, 21 percent in Coppell, 16 percent in Plano, 11 percent in Richardson, and 9 percent in Frisco.

Conversely, sales soared 40 percent in Prosper and 37 percent in DeSoto. The Park Cities market also witnessed a 29 percent jump.

According to the Texas Association of Realtors, DFW market was the only major Texas metro that had a decline in overall second quarter home sales.
