University Hospital’s $450M booster shot
SAN ANTONIO – University Health System (UHS) is working on a $452 million expansion of its South Texas Medical Center campus.
At buildout, University Hospital will gain 500,000 sf for more than 300 beds.
The initial two phases will include the new heart and vascular center inside the existing Sky Tower and part of a new parking structure.
The third phase will include the women’s and children’s tower, and the remaining portion of the parking garage.
The new tower will initially house 179 beds, with space to add another 124 beds as needed. It will have separate dedicated emergency departments for pediatrics, as well as obstetrics, gynecology, and lab facilities.
