The site i​s near industrial operations such as a distribution center for Target.

The announcement comes after it was reported in June 2018 that a massive data center was slated in Midlothian.

As part of agreements with the city, Ellis County, and the state​​, the site is intended for a data center that would bring a minimum of 40 jobs and an investment of $500 million over five years.
