2018 Signed leases by industryDALLAS-FORT WORTH – Tech companies are sparking widespread growth in North Texas’s office market.

So far in 2018, tech firms accounted for almost 30 percent of the area’s office leasing, according to a new study by CBRE

That’s the largest share by a single industry group.

CBRE estimates that more than 160,000 DFW residents work in the tech sector with an average wage of almost $97,000 a year.

DFW has one of the most affordable tech labor pools in the country, which is a major factor in its growth—the number of tech workers in North Texas has grown by more than 15 percent in the last five years.

Over the last five years, the number of tech degree graduates in the Metroplex has also increased by 81 percent, the fastest growth of all tech talent markets.

In addition, the population of millennial workers in the area has jumped by more than 8 percent in the last five years—more than double the national growth rate.
