At mid-year 2018, the occupancy rate was 92.5 percent, a slight increase from the 92.4 percent at year-end 2017, according to a recent report by Weitzman. DFW has a retail market inventory of 198.1 million sf in projects with 25,000 sf or more, the largest retail inventory of any Texas metro. In addition, the Metroplex has a good deal of development activity. Based on projects underway and announced openings, the market is on track to add approximately 3.48 million sf of retail space in 2018. With those additions, the market inventory is expected to surpass 200 million sf for the first time this year. According to the report, the outlook for 2018 and going into 2019 remains positive as retail is supported by growth in population, employment, and single- and multifamily housing deliveries.
