​​​​AUSTIN – The Texas capital snagged the third spot on WalletHub's list of 2018's best big cities to live in.

The city ranked second in economy and eighth in education and health. It was 16th in quality of life, 21st in safety, and 28th in affordability. 

Austin tied for first in highest income growth with San Francisco and Seattle. 

The rest of the top five are Seattle; Virginia Beach, Va.; San Francisco; and San Diego. WalletHub examined 62 large cities to come up with the rankings. 

Here are other Texas highlights from the report:

  • Dallas (50) ​had the third-lowest percent of population aged 25 and older with a high school diploma or ​higher, tying with Fresno, Calif. 

  • El Paso (33)​, Houston (52), and Dallas ranked 58th, 60th, and 61st, respectively, in percentage of insured population. 

  • Corpus Christi (42)​ was 59th in restaurants per capita and 62nd in coffee shops per capita.

  • Fort Worth (32) ​had the fourth worst bike score, tying with Kansas City, Mo., and Pittsburg.

  • El Paso had the second lowest crime rate in the nation.
