Dell Medical taking (part of) old Brackenridge hospital

​​​​AUSTIN – Dell Medical School has been approved to take over part of the old Brackenridge hospital site at 601 E 15th St.

In July 2018, Travis County Commissioners and the board of managers at public health organization Central Health both approved leasing two blocks of the six-block, 14.3-acre site to the 2033 Fund.

The lease is for 99 years and could cost $450 million over that span, including $6.6 million in upfront payments.

The lease is for a medical office building and the north wing of the old Brackenridge hospital but not its main tower, although Dell Med plans to build offices on the site of the former.
