WINKLER COUNTY – A Canadian renewable energy company has bought what will be the largest solar project in Texas when completed in third quarter 2019.
Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. will build the 250 megawatt Phoebe solar farm on the border of New Mexico after buying the project from Longroad Energy Partners.
The $400 million project has a 12-year power purchase agreement with Shell Energy North America, which is Shell’s North America wholesale energy marketer and trader.
There are currently more than 28,000 megawatts of solar projects planned for the territory covered by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, or ERCOT, which covers 90 percent of Texas.
