El Paso Water logoEL PASO – El Paso Water is moving forward with plans for a new light industrial park in Northwest El Paso.

The local water utility is looking to capitalize on the growing demand for warehouse and industrial space in the borderland.

The U.S. Commerce Department awarded a $1 million grant to El Paso Water to help fund the $4.7 million project expected to create 140 jobs.

The 57-acre property is on I-10 near Los Mochis Dr.

The federal grant will be used to install water and sewer infrastructure on the property, which is vacant.

The project is expected to finish in 12 to 18 months; then, the utility plans to offer parcels for sale or lease.
