wind farmLAREDO – AT&T Inc. has entered into a power-purchase agreement with a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources that will fund the construction of a 300-megawatt wind farm in deep South Texas.

The project off FM 2050 and Santo Niño Rd. will include 121 General Electric wind turbines which are expected to be in commercial operation later this year.

Once the new wind farm is complete, AT&T will have a portfolio with 820 megawatts of renewable power.

Over the past two years, companies such as IKEA, Amazon, and Nike have commissioned wind farms in South Texas.

Texas is the number one producer of wind energy in the United States.
