Alliance Airport from the airFORT WORTH – Much went in to expanding the two runways at Fort Worth Alliance Airport including moving FM 156, along with a BNSF rail line.

In the first half of 2018, two runways and a taxiway—previously 8,200 feet and 9,600 feet—were finally expanded to 11,000 feet at a cost of approximately $260 million.

The expansion allows for a plane full of cargo and fuel to take off during the summer, whereas the previous runway was too short.

The nearly three-decade project required the help of everybody from the Federal Aviation Administration, the city of Fort Worth, BNSF Railway, Tarrant County, and the Texas Department of Transportation.
