​​​​San Antonio International Airport continues to add more airlines and flights, while setting a long string of monthly passenger records.SAN ANTONIO – That long streak of record passenger counts at San Antonio International Airport are adding up. 

A new ranking of North America’s fastest-growing midsize airports has SAT at No. 15—ahead of similar facilities in other popular destinations, including Montreal, Oakland, and Baltimore-Washington.

Airline industry consultant OAG​ tracked airport data for the 12 months ending April 2018 and compared the volume of departing seats with the same period the previous year.

Cincinnati was top of the list with 5.1 million departing seats and a growth rate of 18 percent year over year.

Austin ranked second, with nearly 8.9 departing seats and 16 percent growth year over year.

San Antonio International had more than 5.7 million departing seats in 2018.

The city has doubled down on its efforts to recruit more airlines and flights—especially nonstop service​.
