San Antonio-area hotels saw a boost in revenues due to the NCAA Final Four tournament.SAN ANTONIO – Hotels in the Alamo city saw an increase in revenue and room-nights sold during first quarter 2018 due to tens of thousands of visitors who flocked to the area in late March 2018 for the NCAA men’s Final Four.

Area hotels generated $347.9 million in 1Q 2018, an 8.3 percent increase over the same period a year ago.

The revenue bump is especially impressive considering the occupancy rate for San Antonio hotels was just over 67 percent.

That is lower than the 74.4 percent and 71.1 percent rates posted in the Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth markets, respectively.

Hotels in the San Antonio area sold about 2.9 million room-nights during the quarter, a nearly 4 percent gain over 1Q 2017.
