U-Haul: Houston top destination city . . . again
PHOENIX – For the ninth consecutive year, Houston is the top U.S. destination city in U-Haul’s yearly migration rankings.
Houston saw a 5 percent year-over-year increase in one-way U-Haul truck arrivals in 2017. No. 5 San Antonio and No. 7 Austin are the only other Texas cities landing in the top ten. No. 16 Dallas, No. 25 Fort Worth, and No. 31 Plano snagged spots on U-Haul’s list.
The rest of the top ten are: No. 2 Chicago; No. 3 Orlando, Fla.; No. 4 Brooklyn, N.Y.; No. 6 Las Vegas; No. 8 Philadelphia; No. 9 Charlotte, N.C.; and No. 10 Columbus, Ohio.
U-Haul International counts down its top ten U.S. Destination Cities each year during Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start to summer moving season. About 45 percent of moves each year occur between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.
