The historic 1914 Nueces County CourthouseCORPUS CHRISTI – County officials finalized the sale of the old 1914 Nueces County Courthouse to Ohio-based Nueces County Courthouse Development Partners LLC.

The company is planning to restore the historic building and convert it into a four-star hotel that city officials hope will serve as a catalyst to further growth downtown.

The developer has paid $1.5 million in back taxes owed on the building as part of the sale.

The estimated completion date for the 190-room hotel is sometime in 2020.

The number of hotel rooms could change as the project rolls along, but an addition to the existing courthouse in the form of two new wings at the rear was necessary to create more hotel rooms and additional event space.
