150 trucks a day: 1,000 applicates in 24 hours
DENTON – With the booming economy and companies shipping more than ever, one of the largest manufacturers in the region is pumping out 150 trucks a day.
Peterbilt’s 600,000-sf manufacturing plant at 3200 Airport Rd. employs around 2,700 and produces customized trucks.
Because of truck driver shortages, Peterbilt is trying to help lower the barrier of entry of becoming a driver by installing new technologies and safety measures into their trucks.
“We got 1,000 applications in less than 24 hours online . . . We’re on a record pace this year for trucks produced out of this factory." said Chris Davis, plant manager of the facility.
“Just from my perspective, people in Texas will get it done. Texans will get it done. I’ve worked all over the country. These people here are special.”
